Llik Your Idols

Angelique Bosio, Paris France, Documentary Feature, 70 minutes.

New York City Premere!

Llik Your Idols is a 70mn long documentary that deals with “The Cinema of Transgression” movement (New York, 1984-1991) and introduces its 4 main figures: Richard Kern, Lydia Lunch, Joe Coleman, Nick Zedd. It challenged the academism of Hollywood along with the politics of Regan and Bush but also perpetuated the tradition of underground cinema (Russ Meyer, Jack Smith, John Waters…).

The films were shorts on Super 8 with various aesthetics, full of violence, drugs, perversions, and dark humor. The soundtrack was from local bands known as No Wave (Sonic Youth, Lydia Lunch, Foetus…). Thanks to the success of Sonic Youth, the movement has now become cult and influenced many young artists, whatever the format (cinema, photography, fashion). Are interviewed too: Thurston Moore, Richard Hell, Bruce Labruce…
